How do I apply for a job at the NC Research Campus?

Employment for the NC Research Campus is being handled by each individual institution and firm that has located to Kannapolis - there isn't one hiring organization. However, a central job board called NCRC Jobs has been created and has postings for new positions at the Campus.

 

How Do I Apply For Water/Sewer Service?

The City of Kannapolis offers water and sewer service to its citizens and businesses. Upon completion and approval of the application, service is instituted within 2 business days.

All parties receiving water and/or sewer service shall pay for such service in full accordance with the schedule of rates, fees and charges set by the City. Collection procedures do apply on delinquent accounts. If you are not the legal property owner of the service address, a $50.00 deposit is required to open an account.

As mandated by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission Identity Theft Prevention Program, the City must require applicant's of individual accounts to furnish documented proof of their identity before service is approved in addition to any documentation the City requires. Documentation will be verified.

INDIVIDUAL ACCOUNTS: If applying for service as the residential property owner, renter/tenant (a copy of the lease agreement is required), sole proprietor of a business or as an individual landlord, the applicant must provide two separate forms of identifying information to open an account under FTC regulations.

ONE: A current and valid government issued photo ID. Any of the following are accepted: State or US Territory issued driver's license or ID card, passport from any nation with an unexpired INS stamp such as the I-94 or I-551, or US Military ID.

TWO:  A valid Social Security number OR any of the following are accepted: A certified US birth certificate or documentation issued by the United States Government indicating legal presence. PLEASE NOTE: IRS issued taxpayer ID cards are NOT accepted under the FTC regulations.

Additionally, if the account is being opened by a Guardian Ad Litem or legal Power of Attorney for the account holder, a copy of the appropriate legal documents are required for service.

If a joint account, EACH applicant must provide their information and documentation under the FTC Identity Theft Prevention Program in addition to any documentation the City requires.

BUSINESS ACCOUNTS: Sole proprietor's must apply under an individual account otherwise, if applying for service as a business in which the business is the legal property owner or as a renter/tenant (a copy of the lease agreement is required), then a legal authorized representative of the business can open the business account.

Additionally, anyone conducting any type of business or service within the City limits, must have a current City of Kannapolis business privilege license unless exempt under state statutes, before service is approved. You must provide your City of Kannapolis license number. See Business Privilege Licenses for more information.

How Do I Make Water/Sewer Payments?

The City of Kannapolis is pleased to offer several payment methods to save you time, postage and ensure that your monthly payment is made on time. These payment methods are offered at no additional charge. For more information or if you have questions about these services, please call 704-920-4399, Monday-Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.

Option 1: Use the Automated Telephone Payments via the IVR system - Just call 704-920-4400 and follow the prompts. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and electronic check. Please note, you must have your  10 digit water/sewer account number ready when using this service.

Option 2: Come to the Customer Service Center - As always, you are welcome to come in person and pay your bill using either Visa, MasterCard or a personal check. Our office is located at 234 Dale Earnhardt Blvd. Kannapolis, NC 28081.

Option 3: Automatic Bank Draft - Just fill out the bank draft application and submit it to the Customer Service Center.

 

How do I register to vote? Where do I go to vote?

City Hall

The NC State Board of Elections handles voter registrations in North Carolina. By visiting their website, you can learn the different places where you can register to vote as well as voting regulations.

What is considered yard waste and how do I put it at the curb?

Public Works

The following items are considered yard waste: leaves, grass clippings, pampas grass, garden debris (shake off as much dirt as possible), cornstalks, bamboo and other plant or garden material, branches and limbs, etc. Guidelines: All yard waste, other than limbs, must be bagged, bundled or tied.   No bag or bundle should weigh more than 50 lbs. Tree limbs must be stacked loosely with cut end toward street. Waste Management won't collect any more than two pick-up truckloads of limbs per address per week.
