Finance Department

The City of Kannapolis Finance Department administers the City’s financial affairs. The department works diligently to keep the City in compliance with all federal and state laws.

The Finance Department continually wins the highest awards for financial reporting and budget presentation from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada each year. They represent the City's financial matters and provide the following services and information:

City Budget

The City of Kannapolis runs on a fiscal year beginning July 1 and ending June 30. Each year, the City Council begins its budget process in the early spring for the following fiscal year. Highlights of this year’s budget include the lowering of the property tax rate, the implementation of a new customer service initiative, and the implementation of a new pay and compensation plan for City employees.
