The City of Kannapolis provides water and sewer service to its residents and businesses. For water connections, new service, billing inquiries, customer service and meter reading, please call 704-920-4399 or visit the customer service center at 234 Dale Earnhardt Boulevard. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. except for City holidays.
To apply for new service, please download the application and submit it in person to the Water & Sewer Billing Office. Once the application is received, service will begin within 48 hours.
Renters must provide a copy of their lease signed and dated by the landlord.
Electricity is provided by Duke Energy. To establish service at your new residence, complete the Start Service Form at www.duke-energy.com or call 1-800-777-9898. Duke Energy service personnel are available Monday through Saturday except for major holidays. Please allow at least three business days to complete your request.
Natural gas service is available from PSNC Energy. To sign up for service, call 1-877-776-2427 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
When you call, be sure to have the following information available: the complete address where you would like service, your mailing address (if different), your phone number, your Social Security number, your spouse’s name and Social Security number (if applicable), your driver’s license number and expiration date, the name and phone number of a contact person and your landlord’s name (if applicable).

All new residents of North Carolina must obtain a driver’s license within 60 days of establishing permanent residence.
To apply, you must appear in person at a state driver’s license office and bring the required documentation including your Social Security card, one additional form of identification with your full name and date of birth, proof of liability insurance and proof of residency. You must also complete and pass the vision, traffic sign and driving knowledge tests. For those who hold a valid license from another state, the driving skills road test requirement may be waived at the discretion of the examiner.
For Kannapolis residents, a driver’s license office is located in Concord at 2192 Kannapolis Highway. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. The office’s phone number is 704-782-7214.

If you are relocating to North Carolina from another state, you must register your vehicle within 30 days.
To register your vehicle, you must present the DMV with the required documentation which includes a valid North Carolina driver’s license or identification card, the title for your vehicle, a valid registration card from the state of prior registration, your North Carolina residence address and proof of liability insurance.
After registering your vehicle and paying the appropriate fees, you will be assisted in applying for a certificate of title, registration plate and registration card.
There is a DMV office located in Kannapolis at 1509 Dale Earnhardt Boulevard; this office is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The office’s phone number is 704-932-3146.

The North Carolina State Board of Elections handles voter registration. Many sites are able to register voters, including the DMV at the time of application for a driver’s license, public libraries, and public high schools. Forms can also be requested online and mailed to the correct County board of elections.
